Music games

Kategori: Public

During the Steam sales I bought a lot of different games but the one that I really liked the most was Audiosurf.
Audiosurf is a music-adapting puzzle racer and each ride is determined by the song you choose. The ride will go faster if you choose a faster song and you can choose if you want the song to go even faster with something called iron mode and that will take your ride to another level!
You can download songs from the Audiosurf Radio but you can also pick a song that you already have on your computer! There are achievements too for you guys who'd like to complete those.
I really like music games, before I started to play Tales of Pirates I played the well known Guitar Hero and from time to time I also play StepMania so I really enjoy music games and it's always funny to try to beat your own highscore or a friend's highscore. Let's not forget to complete a song too, of course. I like the whole idea to see how fast you can dodge blocks or hit the right keys at the same time that you're playing some awesome song. Excercising your fingers and see how fast they are, or something like that eh... But yeah! Concentration and how fast do you react? Challenge yourself!
There are a lot of different music games some of them on arcade machines and Dance Dance Revolution is one of the most popular one where you dance and gosh, I've seen some reaaaaally fast footsteps I tell you that...

I also bought Beat Hazard but haven't tried it out yet. Beat Hazard is another music game but the same time it's an arcade shooter game, also determined on what songs you choose to play. As I've seen and heard it has some crazy light effects.

Merry Christmas!

Kategori: Public

Hey guys, Merry Christmas to ya'll! I hope that you've had or gonna have a great time with beloved one's and maybe you got/will get something great as a Christmas gift too? Share!
Some of you guys might have it a bit hard to read the text on my blog because of the background and the text colour. For me, I actually see the text on the black part in the middle but it depends on what kind of resolution you have on your screen. So, I'll try to fix this asap, get another background so it'll get easier for you to read.
I bought myself Audiosurf the last day and I love it! Gonna try to write more about music games in any the upcoming posts.

Once again, Merry Christmas everyone!

1up's! Got them as gifts from my sister. There're actually candies inside of'em.

Steam Holiday Sale and The Great Gift Pile

Kategori: Public

Steam has a lot of great deals for you guys that want to buy new or old games right now. I bought Portal 2 for approximately $9,75 which is a REALLY great price for such an awesome game. One of my friends also bought me the RPG game Chantelise and I also saw that I had received a Steam Gift: Half Life 2 and Half Life 2: Lost Coast. The same friend got Half Life 2: Episode One as his Steam Gift and he gave it to me. So I have some new games to check out now but really, thank you a lot Tom!
OH! I also got a Steam coupon -50% on any Homefront game that'll release somewhere between January 2012 and March(?) 2012.

Except for that, they have The Great Gift Pile which means that you can play games, complete objectives and by doing that you'll get gifts. This is something I think is really funny, especially for people that loves to complete achievements. I'll have a look at it myself and see if I can complete any of the objectives.
One of my friends is also giving out games he doesn't want that he gets by completing the objectives, I'll see what games he wanna give out and come back to you about it later.

I also asked Tom and Petter to answer some questions about the Steam Holiday Sale and the Great Gift Pile.

Petter

What do you think about the Steam Holiday Sale?

I believe that it's a great idea for selling games and attracting loyal customers.

Are you planning to buy any game during the Holiday Sale?

I would if i could but unfortunately i'm unable to do that because Steam does not support my card.

What do you think about The Great Gift Pile where you play games and complete objectives to get gifts?

A pretty smart move by Valve if you ask me. It brings an urge to buy games and complete games to receive gifts such as free games and more.

Are you going to try out any of the objectives?

Yes i will but only with those games that i have.

Tom

What would You like to read about?

Kategori: Public

Hey!

In the last post some dude commented and was pretty interested in games such as Starcraft II and World of Warcraft and requested more posts about P2P games (Pay 2 Play). I try out games that I think looks funny but I wouldn't mind trying out games if you guys are requesting it, or at least see if anyone else that's already playing the game can tell us more about it! As some of you guys may already know, my sister wrote a post about Zelda Skyward Sword in this blog.
I also have a request to interview Husky, a commentator for SC2 and my plan is to see if I can get in touch with him.

So my question to you guys is what would you like to read/see more of in my blog?

Aw, Sion really got some green hands over there. Planting wards all over.

Best game of the year?

Kategori: Public

Heya y0!

So, it's already December and there have been a lot of new games that have been released this year; Skyrim, BF3, MW3, Amnesia, Zelda Skyward Sword and so on.
This year, I've been trying out games like Dungeon Defenders, Terraria, Blacklight Retribution, Dota 2, Spiral Knights and HoN. LoL too of course. LoL have been the game that I've really enjoyed playing and I've been playing it since last fall. I've made a lot of new friends through the in game life and got to know a lot of them irl too.
I must say that I'm really looking forward to the release of BLR. I must say that Spiral Knights have been a really fun game to play whenever you would like a break from a game that you play often. I haven't played a lot of Dungeon Defenders or Terraria but I really like the graphics and game style in DD.
I can't really decide which game that would be the best game of the year for me. Perhaps LoL or SK... Hmm

Spiral Knights, this is not a screenshot I've taken - Picture from Google.

I would like you to leave a comment with which game you think have been the best game of the year and why? It can be a new game, old game or any other game that you've been into the most during the year.

Attitudes on the different communities

Kategori: Public

So I got to borrow a friends account to try out Dota 2 and I can't really tell you about the game itself yet. I haven't played Dota before and I really felt like a noob while playing because it wasn't like League of Legends. I guess that you'll have to get used to the game play.
-
Anyways, when I queued I thought that I was going to get match maked with players that were low lvled since my friend was lvl 1, turns out that the players I was in the same team with were really rude and took the game really seriously. So my first experience from Dota 2 wasn't good at all. I'll try to give it another shot though.

This time, I would like to ask you guys about your own experience of flaming, qq'ing etc and do you think it's worse on some specific community and why is it so? Share your own thoughts about attitudes in game!

Team Liquid - Autographs (pictures)

Kategori: Public

While at DreamHack some of you guys might know that the Starcraft II team Team Liquid was there. I took the chance to meet them and even though I'm not a Starcraft player, I thought it would be awesome to get their autographs. So I asked them to sign 2 smaller posters and 1 big poster. I also asked if they could draw a heart and aw, they did! Two of them drew that big heart in the middle together.

The colour from the pen didn't dry fast enough on the big poster so it went all over. ):

Free FPS Game: Blacklight Retribution - Closed BETA - GET A KEY

Kategori: Public

Hey hey hey!

Did you guys enjoy the last post? I did! Really looking forward to try out Skyward Sword myself, although I'm not even done with Twilight Princess (the previous Zelda game).
While at DreamHack I was VIP to Intel's section for 2 days and you had the chance to try out the closed BETA game Blacklight Retribution there. It's a FPS game published by Perfect World.

Some of you guys know that I don't really enjoy playing FPS since I feel like throwing up just after some minutes and when I tried it out at DreamHack I stopped "in time" since I didn't wanna feel ill. I got myself some BETA keys and have now been playing it a bit home and HURRAY, I'm starting to get used to FPS.

The game is beautiful and has some amazing graphics for being a soon to come, free 2 play game. It doesn't really surprise me though, if you guys have been trying out Perfect World, then you should know how great the graphics are. One thing that's pretty boo at the BETA fase is that the European server isn't available so for some people that doesn't have the best internet connection, it might lag a bit.

GUEST: The adventure begins...

Kategori: Public

So, here comes the long awaited post from the sis.

I started playing Zelda Ocarina of Time when I was about 14 and Cat was like 5. She sat by my side for hours, just watching while I was playing. So the gaming started. :)

The last Zelda I played was Twilight Princess which was amazing. I had high expectations of Skyward Sword (SS) and have been waiting for a long time for it to come. So, finally, a couple of days ago it arrived.

I bought the Limited Edition Gold Wii Remote Bundle through Amazon.co.uk. It was dispatched Nov 16, but didn't arrive until Nov 28th which was a bit too long in my opinion. But, it was shipped for free and cost just under £50 (530 SEK), which is almost half the price in comparison with e g Swedish Webhallen. The bundle included the game, a golden wii remote as well as a cd with orchestra versions of classic Zelda music.

The wii gold remote looks great, and it has wii motionplus, which is necessary for this game. The wiimote follows the exact move of the hand, you can turn the blade in any direction and Link will do exactly the same. You have to fight more strategic because of this, since some of the enemies only can be killed with a certain stab.

I have been playing for approx. 5-6 hours at the moment, so I'm only at the beginning. The game is already exciting, I can feel my heart pounding when entering new areas (can you imagine how it will feel when I will meet the first boss). The graphics is good, a bit better than TP. One thing that is new is that Link cannot run/climb/fight for more than a few seconds, he will get exausted and need to rest (thus making him vulnerable against enemies).  That annoys me a bit, but hopefully I will learn how to live with it.

So, this is all for now, I will get you some updates along the way, and don't hesitate to leave a comment if you have any questions about the game or any interesting fact about my sis. ;)

GUEST: My sister and Zelda Skyward Sword!
